His daughter, Patricia Zavrel, says Heffron died Sunday at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, N.J.

Heffron and the rest of his "Band of Brothers" fought through some of World War II's fiercest European battles between 1941 and 1945.

The Philadelphia native took part in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and helped liberate a concentration camp in Landsberg, Germany. He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

His daughter says funeral arrangements are private.
