I had the privilege and honor to know and work with Dr Hixson when I was a young woman working at Placid Memorial Hospital- His love of family and love of outdoor adventures showed in all he did- I know this is late in coming but my condolences to his family- His influence is worldwide and a tribute to a fine man

Dear Karen and family, Very sad to read the news in our Syr. news paper. I grew up with Ward (same age) here in Oneida. Sunday School, public school, camping and all the fun things boys did in the40's and 50's. I had the pleasure of introduceing Ward as the guest speaker to a big function here in Oneida many years ago and saw him a few time while our son was at Paul Smiths. Ward was a great man and am very proud to have known him for 81 years.

There is no one word to describe Ed. But let me try..friends comes first as it meant so much to him. Old friends, new friends, young friends, all taken in by his warmth, his kindness and his love of story telling. But his stories were real, of Mount Everest and all other summits climbed, of hardship and friends lost, of all rivers and lakes canoed through, of all animals and birds met, admired and loved, of all fireside´s tales and friendships recalled.
