Not sure what to say?

Ed was a delight to work with. His pleasure at seeing his name on the cover of the BLOOD ON THE HOLLY anthology, still makes me smile.

I first met him at Bloody Words, and was at the Arthur Ellis Dinner when he enjoyed a toast to his anniversary.

I lift a glass one more time to Ed Hoch.

The months will be poorer for not having a Hoch story to look forward to. Goodbye to a great story teller.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hoch but his story was always the first one I read each month in Ellery Queen. I also purchased his short story collections to donate to the Gates Public Library as a "local author". My condolances to his family and to all who were fans of his work.

To say he will be missed, to say I loved him as a great writer and friend, to say he will be missed at the Edgars and the Bouchercons, to say we will never see his like again is to repeat, I'm sure, what a lot of these messages are saying.
I always saved his stories for Fridays to get the weekend off on a high note. I know everyone has to die; but had he lived to a hundred, I would not have been ready to say good-bye. He was so prolific, and so many were good, I will probably join him...

Dear Pat, I am stunned and greatly saddened by the loss of my good longtime friend Ed. Console yourself with the memory of his lifetime love for you, and the fact that his writing tenacity, work ethic, and storytelling ability made him unique in his profession. God bless you in your grief.

It was a pleasure and honor to be on a panel with Ed and to meet him at a few other mystery events. He was a sweet and generous man.

Pat, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.
Your family, friends, faith and memories will support you in the days ahead.Cousin Karon

I was so sad to learn of Ed's passing. Ed not only gave us a superb story for Crime Writers of Canada's anthology, Blood on the Holly, but he drove from Rochester to Toronto to support our launch. We will miss him greatly!

I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of Ed Hoch. He was not only a wonderful writer, he was a great supporter of mystery writers in Canada. We had the honour of having Ed contribute a story to our mystery anthology, Blood on the Holly, and the honour of having Pat and Ed attend the launch at Sleuth of Baker Street in Toronto last October.

I will never forget his gentle humour or his sweet smile. My thoughts and prayers will be with Pat and her family.
