Not sure what to say?

Jonny and Family: I knew Ed only briefly through my association with Coach Clyde and the SHS baseball program, but Karen and I have considered you guys among our very few Florida friends. The Sailors bullpen won't be the same this spring without hearing Eddie down there, encouraging his pitchers. He sounded gruff, made them mentally tough, but everybody knew he had a heart of gold. He will always be remembered, and I feel privileged to have known him.

Big Daddy was an amazing man with a kind heart...always had a smile on his face! He was an inspiration to so many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him! I know he is in a better place, free of pain, and laughing and telling stories with those who have passed before us, including my sweet Todd! Jonny, my heart is with you! ♡

Jonny, my condolences to you and your family. "When someone you love becomes memory the memory becomes a treasure".

We remember our time with Big Daddy and his family and close friends so fondly. They are a fixture in some of our happiest Sarasota memories.

He was a great role model for young men, and he remained close to so many of them into adulthood. He was a real man with a huge heart and personality to match.

His family and close friends including Jack and Brenda are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult and sad time.

Rest Well Coach Howell you are going to be missed Greatly by many always smiling , always caring , always great advice. Prayers to all your family close and extended. Forever in our hearts

I was very sad to read about "The Coach" illness and passing. My family moved to Sarasota in 1970 from N.J. I had to take drivers ed , needless to say the teacher was Coach Howell. I was ready for the drivers test when we moved from the north. At the end of the class ,when 3 of us were road driving Eddie would say " Rosemary drive us back to the school". I would say my name is not Rosemary coach: he would reply I know...I just call you that for fun...
He also taught my brother John and my...

Eddie was like everybody's favorite uncle. Can't remember when he wasn't a part of your life and can't imagine life without him in it. Rest well, Eddie, you done good. Thoughts and prayers to all who loved him and will miss him. Godspeed, Eddie.

NOT MUCH IS SAID ABOUT A GREAT GIRLS SHS SOFTBALL COACH, KNOWN TO MANY AS THE "HATCHETT MAN"...17-1 THAT SEASON!! IT WAS COACH HOWELL WHOM ASKED ME TO STAY IN SCHOOL INSTEAD OF OPTING OUT EARLY MY SENIOR YEAR. WHEN EDDIE HOWELL SPOKE, WE SURE DID LISTEN!
SAD TO SEE SUCH A GREAT MAN, FATHER, HUSBAND, COACH AND MENTOR PASS ON. PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO KNEW COACH HOWELL. WE WILL SURELY MISS YOU!

Our deepest sympathy to the Howell Family. Eddie was a great man and an inspiration to many. A kind man, a big smile and a big heart. God Bless. Sincerely, Thomas & Francine LoCrasto
