Dr. Edward B. Jones

Dr. Ed Jones was, without question, my best teacher at Furman. I took all the courses that I could from him and under his teaching acumen, I grew intellectually more than at any other time in my life. I gained a much greater understanding of the world after having had his classes. I learned more about books and their contents from his guidance. I am honored to have known him. I simply adored Ed Jones, and what a fitting obituary. I had the privilege of knowing Ed through my parents-Tom and Elizabeth Gower-and through our church, Westminster Presbyterian. Ed was an amazing Sunday School teacher, great listener and story-teller, and his kind smile and hearty laugh left those around him smiling.
