Edward Louis Kean

For many years we had been in contact with Ed, our dear colleague and friend, with whom we shared not only science but our mutual interests in art and music. Only now did we learn that he passed away, following his dear wife Pat, and we understand now why we did not get replies to our letters during the last years. Ed was a long-time colleague and collaborator and will be missed. He was a kind and gentle friend and an enormously talented and knowledgeable colleague. I gave him a long hug when he retired and hope that it lasted all of the intervening years....
