Smart, informed, articulate and factual!

I went to school with Ed for six years at Rye Country Day School. We graduated from (different) law school the same year and went into very different fields. But I was blown away by his book We Are Better than This and still thinks it is an important and timely piece of solid advice. We were in sporadic contact over the years, mostly by email, and I was so glad to finally be able to see him at our 50th reunion last fall. My condolences to his family and friends.

Ed graciously agreed to be a reviewer for an academic paper I wrote in 2016, after I contacted him after searching for the most knowledgeable expert in corporate taxation law I could find and citing his paper on "Stateless Income" as a foundation of for the topic and approach. Ed then also hosted me for a lunch near the Stanford University campus where he was on assignment to discuss the paper and we spent two hours together, where I got to experience his great intellect and humanity, his...

I was reading "we're better than this" and much of the book was well over my head. I emailed him and I was shocked when he answered and offered the information that I needed on the treatment on capital gains tax code and associated problems. And I am a total stranger to him...just an old man in Texas of no significance...but he took the time to answer.
