Not sure what to say?

I had the privilege of helping to take care of Ed for a 2 years. My first St. Patrick's Day with him I put him in a green shirt that had a yellow Nike symbol on it... I saw it after the shirt was on him. A few staff and residents gave him a fun hard time. That day at breakfast he used a loud voice to our RCC she was from Eugene and pointed to me saying '' is she a friend of yours? ''. By the was she was halfway a cross the diningroom. There was some chuckles. I have other great stories....

Ed Knecht was above all else a football coach- and he was most proud of that.

He was my HS coach in 1964-65, the year Boise High beat Boise (a team that was 10-1-1). He has always been open that he parlayed the Boise High job into a coaching job at OSC--- but only if he could bring Idaho HS Stars: Kent Scott (All American at Boise High); Steve Preece of Borah; and Roger Cantlon of Caldwell.

I always thought he hustled Kent Scott and Preece to attend OSU, since both had...

Missing my Genesee high school Principal, #EdwardTKnecht, my educator and protector. Prayers and blessings to his family.

He became an adult confidante, in later years, and always had Dad, me and my family... He knew ALL the goings on in my family - to the end - always directing me to professionals (to help protect Dad)... Rest In Peace, love and comfort. We had some extraordinary #HappyHours at the lake!

Coach Knecht will always be the standard for what a teacher, administrator and coach should be. He lived his life with honor and dignity and taught and inspired those qualities to everyone he came in contact with. Condolences to the Knecht family and so sorry to hear of coach's passing.

Coach Knecht was a ROCK at OSU..the players who played for him were better on the field and off..He will be missed..!!

Coach Knecht was the OSU Rook coach in 66. He gave such an impassioned halftime speech at one game, the entire team rushed for the door and about crushed those in front. We all enjoyed Coach, both as a football coach and a life coach. He always remembered your name and family at each of the reunions we attended. Memorable guy - I was thinking about him days before we got the news of his passing - probably felt the hole in the universe.

May the love of friends and family comfort you during this difficult time Matthew 5:4.

Coach Knecht gave the Boise High class of 1965 a reason to hold our heads up and say, "We couldn't be prouder!" You didn't have to be an athlete to appreciate all he did for the school and students. His passing is like closing the door to Camelot. We'll get along, but it won't be the same.
