Edward J. Knipper

Mr. Knipper was my Chemistry teacher at Richfield High School in 1963-1964. His knowledge of, and ability to teach, Chemistry helped me immensely during my four years at West Point. In addition to teaching me, Mr. Knipper helped me secure an appointment from Congressman Bob Poage to enter West Point in July 1964. Thank you, Mr. Knipper, for all you did for me!

My dad´s family immigrated to Waco from Germany in 1952, when Dad (Frank Ruppert) was 14. He found a friend and advocate in his teacher Mr. Knipper, who took kind interest in him and helped acclimate a war-traumatized boy into American life. Dad´s family stayed in Texas only a short time before moving to and settling in New Jersey, but dad never forgot his beloved teacher. Thank you so very much for the years at Richfield (1976-1979) in German class, Herr Knipper. You were by far one of the most inspirational teachers I had the privilege learning from. My sympathy and prayers go out to your family. God Bless.

I had Coach Knipper for chemistry during my senior year of high school at old Waco High in 1960-61. I really learned in and enjoyed his class. His was a laid-back but common-sense way of presenting material that few teachers can master. I was so fortunate to have had him. My best friend, Beth (Martin) Garrett cocurs with me as he was her chemistry teacher also.

Such a beloved teacher, coach, and above all, remarkable human being. I was privileged to be one of his students in chemistry class my junior year at Waco High in 1961. He made learning fun and I always enjoyed it. A dear man who will be missed by many but better persons having known him. Thank you, Mr. Knipper for all you did!

Coach was a guiding influence in my life. To say he was a role model is to little. He was a man who cared about all students, not just his players, and he will be missed by all. I loved him and he "showed us the way to go home".

Coach Knipper took me to Camp Stewart in Hunt, Tx to work as a wrangler with him in 1958....a life changing experience. He was a coach and teacher to me at West Jr. and later at Waco High School. Never a better influence than he on my life.
