Not sure what to say?

Behind that wonderful smile was a great man. I was fortunate to work with Ed at Nottingham as a teacher and also on countless Saturdays and sometimes Sundays proctoring tests.

Ed was respected by everyone he worked with. He was intelligent and fair. He always told it like it was which was refreshing, but sometimes scary for us younger teachers.

I never heard anyone say a bad thing about Ed in all the years I knew him.

He told me about his short harrowing military...

I have been part of the family for 35 years and I have been honored to be able to call Ed Uncle. The memories are many and will be cherished. Rest In Peace now and keep watch over your family. Love you, Karyn

Dad, you touched the lives of many people I can see and that is a lovely memory to hang onto. You were a good father to me, we had our ups and downs together, but you raised me to be independant woman and embrace the world and I did...you passed away on the very same day as Mom, only 29 years later...I believe that angel who met you was Mom..I pray for your eternal peace in Heaven...your loving daughter Louise

Good memories of working with Ed roughly sixty years ago at Hap's Fruit Market in Potsdam, NY.

Dad, this one is for you. Love, Tom

I remember Mr. Kokernak today with respect and admiration as a consummate educator, though certainly I did not know what that meant at the time I was in his classroom. He was among the first of my teachers to inspire critical thinking. As we say in my tradition, may his memory forever be for a blessing to his entire family and to all whose lives he touched.

I had Mr. Kokernak as a teacher at NOttingham HIgh during 77-79. I took Russian history with him and we made Russian food and had a feast. So sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your father. Your father had a tremendous impact on my life. IF not for him I would not have made it to become the woman that I am today. He believed it me and he always let me know that I could do anything if I just settled down and put my mind to it. I took Russian History just to be in his class. I can only remember the name of two of my teachers and your fathers will always be the one I remember most. Rest in Peace Mr. Kokernak I for one will always...

To Ed Kokernak's family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I wrote the following on Facebook:.. "(He was a) good teacher, very patient, kind man with a generosity of spirit. Hard to believe he was in his late 30's when I was his student. Just wish i had been more mature then, and shown him the appreciation he deserved for his efforts."

As I read his obituary, I was heartened to see he had a loving family, many friends, served his country and accomplished a great deal in his...
