Mr. Leede and his wife were customers at the service station where I worked, about two blocks from their home. I always thought they were our most "glamorous" customers-they were from "back East," they had a beautiful home and (making a big impression on a teenage boy!) nice cars. I remember Mr. Leede built an underground squash court at his house. It was the most incredible thing I had ever seen. After our hundred-year flood completely inundated the space, in his true indefatigable style, Mr. Leede immediately set about building it again!
I was just one of the everyday people Mr. Leede encountered, but he always treated me with dignity and interest. I will always respect him for that. He will always be remembered, and he will be greatly missed.

Edward Leede was one of the kindest, most caring men anyone could ever imagine, all the while exemplifying true leadership and a commitment to excellence. While he will certainly be missed by a great many, his legacy will live on through those of us that had the privilege knowing him. His character, dedication and commitment set a high bar that I can only hope to live up to. He made everyone he met feel special, and was a truly special man that I will not soon forget.
