Not sure what to say?

One day in Army basic training, we marched to the "gas house" where an instructor would relate how tear gas worked. Then he would tell everyone to put on their gas masks as he dropped a canister of tear gas in a confined room with no windows. After a minute he would scream, "Take off your masks." Everyone started coughing and gagging with tears streaming down their cheeks. Everyone but Ed and I who as squad leaders managed to sneak out the back door. As our buddies stumbled out of the...

So many stories about Ed! One sticks out while on a weekend pass from AIT training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. We rented a big `69 Ford station wagon and headed to Lake LBJ with 8 guys aboard. Along the way Ed decided to climb out the window and onto the roof. He then looked down through the windshield at our driver. For some inexplicable reason I climbed up there with him and we pretended to surf as the car sped along a two lane highway. Afterwards we wondered what might have happened...

Along with Hank, Cork, Jack and many others I first met Ed in the army. For six years I saw Ed every month at our army reserve meetings. I always looked forward to renewing our friendship. Ed was a perfect gentlemen with a great sense of humor that he shared openly with everyone he came in contact with.

Ed enjoyed displaying his impression of the "Flying Squirrel" that modesty prevents me from describing in detail. Knowing Ed's sense of humor, you can only guess his...

I met Ed in the Army and he became a life long friend. He was in my wedding and godfather to my oldest son.
Ed was without a doubt one of the funniest people I have ever met.during basic training he turn low crawling thru mud into a funny event.
A great friend, husband, father and entrepreneur.you will be missed, but go ahead and start the party up there,we’ll be along soon.

Ed and I were squad leaders during basic infantry training. Neither one of us could figure out how that happened but we laughed about it for over 50 years. Ed thought the Army must have picked us by mistake. Miss you buddy.

Several wonderful stories come to mind. I was in the same Army unit as Ed. One year we had duty at AP Hill Virginia. WE were in the wilderness, our bus arrived and there was Ed. Ed had permission to drive to camp. As we exited the bus Ed approach a few friends and said. I've made your bunks, put nets over your bed. Your all set, lets go have some fun.

Thank you for your brave service to our country !

In 1967 I was a Phikia fraternity pledge with Phi Delta Theta at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Ed was an inducted Phi and a gentleman. He never harassed anyone. Anyone I remember him as a good man, a decent soul and a straight shooter. I was from Cleveland Heights Ohio. I left Ohio U at the end of 67 and never saw Ed again. But I will always remember him. In heaven there is rest. Good man down. May Ed’s eternity be what he wants and needs.
