Everyone is unique, of course, but some individuals are more unique than the rest of us. Ed was more. I was lucky to have gone on nine safaris to Monterey with him and Judy. There are dozens of photos to prove it, but more important are the many memories that endure: all the great companions on these jaunts, the gorgeous scenery that seemed so daunting to try to paint, dinners at the Clam Box and other delightful restaurants,the sea air, getting just the right tip from Ed to make my stumbling...

Judy and family. I thought that the funeral went so well! Ed does have such a great sense of humor, of which I was not totally aware of until today. It just seemed so cool to be able to laugh at a time like this! I will always remember playing board games with Ed on New years evenings. Love, Richard

I first met Ed in the summer of 1957 when my wife Phyllis and I entered Ralph Reynolds' Studio. Ed's art and person were a source of
inspiration to us for all of these years. And so it is with profound regret that I reflect upon the loss of this gentle giant of art and life.

Dear Judy & Family,
Your wonderful Ed Maryon touched the lives of innumerable people with his marvelous talent as an artist and his quiet, gentle manner as a teacher. I took a few private lessons from him before I attended my first Monterey Workshop in 1983 (and ten more workshops after that). At the first lesson that Ed was playing background music by Bach, my favorite composer, and I remember thinking that Ed's paintings were like the intricate patterns of baroque music made visual....
