Edward “Ed” Mather, age 62, of Hot Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 12, 2004.

He was born on April 6, 1942 in Groton, Connecticut, the son of Frank and Myrtle Paige Mather. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Grace Mather Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Janice Bunner Mather; two sons, Eric Mather and his wife Suzette of Pawcatuck, Connecticut and Aaron Mather and his wife Jennifer of Inglewood, Tennessee; two step-sons, Jerald Bunner of Magnolia, Arkansas and J.R. Bunner and his wife Carrie of Hamburg, Arkansas; one sister, Judy Mather Sylvia and her husband Ron of Ledyard, Connecticut; two brothers, Gary Mather of Griswold, Connecticut and Frank Mather, Jr. and his wife Vickie of Quaker Hill, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Shane, Morgan, Danielle and Reece; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Spring Valley Christian Church. He was a long time member of the Groton Lodge of Elks. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a master electrician having owned Mather Electric in Mystic, Connecticut. After moving to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1992, he was an electrician and safety director for Gigerich Electrical and an electrical apprenticeship instructor at Ouachita Tech. in Malvern.

Services will be held at 3:30 PM, Friday, April 16, 2004 in the Spring Valley Christian Church with Rev. Suzan Miller officiating. A memorial service will be held in Groton, Connecticut.

Interment will be in the Morning Star Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Full military honors will provided by the Thaddeus H. Caraway V.F.W. Post #2278.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Don Gigerich, Kenny Warren, Wayne Shirley, Danny Qualls, Greg Story and Steve Zimmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Gigerich Electrical, Inc. and St. Joseph’s Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spring Valley Christian Church Prime Time.
