Not sure what to say?

Hello, So saddened to see this obituary when researching rowing and the Olympics and your twins ... all motivated by the movie Boys in the Boat...which my husband and I saw on Christmas Day. Sharon, I hope you are well and able to enjoy grandchildren/great grandchildren. I'm still buying and using the Children's Hospital calendars.

For some unknown reason a flash back of memories of days went back with Ted came back to my mind this early morning though years have lingered on. !!! The ever gentle Ted was the first American I met on my First ever trip to the USA. Was escorted and guided by him from Seattle airport in 1978 to my hotel in downtown Seattle. I was to do my Engineering Internship at TRA ( The Richardson Associates) as was assigned by the Ministry of Public Works in Qatar ( a country in the Gulf region). TRA...

I miss my uncle Teddy a lot. He was a kind, generous, funny, heartfelt man. I’m glad he was my uncle!!

I am so sorry to hear at this late time about Ted's passing. He was the real deal. Genuine, sincere and honest. A man who you knew you could trust and who was full of wisdom. And of course was a fellow rower which made it all the more enjoyable. I had hoped to catch up with Ted only to learn he has departed. It makes me realize that as we grow older to never ever hesitate to reach out and touch the ones who matter. Now he is gone, as we all shall do soon, but I just wish I had had that one...

I had the great privilege of knowing Ted professionally as I learned the airport business. He was always generous with his time, his thoughtful wisdom, and gracious support. He was a mensch! I am so sorry to hear of his death. He lives on in his long life of positive influence on others and in his wonderful family. The world was lucky to have him.

I only had the privilege of meeting Ted a few times in the course of my own small journey in the rowing world, but he had a way of making you feel as he had known you for a long time. I always found him to be enthusiastic and supportive. He was genuinely more interested in your rowing than his own exploits and never took enough credit for all the wonderful and complete support he (and Sharon) gave his amazing daughters Betsy and Mary. A great man, a great heart, a great family. Farewell Ted.

It was only a few years back that I unexpectedly received a call from Ted. It had been years since I had lived in beloved Seattle and a bit more since having worked for Ted. He was out west somewhere and how he found my number here at Sacramento International I will never know. What a wonderful and ever so pleasant conversation we had. A gift really from someone I respected so much. On that day he made me feel special with his thoughtfulness. Such an engaging and authentic man. He was this...

Ted was such a lovely man. He was a warm and welcoming friend when I first met him - when he was rowing in a pair with Bob. Bob valued his friendship as did I. He was a regular visitor after Bob's stroke and we enjoyed years of friendship with both of you. He will be missed. Sending you love.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Ted's passing, my condolences to the McCagg family, my thoughts are with you as you remember and celebrate his life. Many, many of us remember Ted with great fondness and respect for his mentorship and caring for each of us in our lives and then in our careers. We all shared Ted with you. It is with gratitude that I remember our good fortune to have spent so many years with him, time he was away from you. It is difficult to think that he is no longer with...
