EDWARD MEILMAN

I was an intern at LIJ 1968-1969. This man had more knowledge in his little finger than I will ever have in my whole body. It is not this alone, but his humanity and heart, that will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him. This man taught me what it means to be a physician, and I suspect many others feel the same

I was an intern at LIJ in 1968 to 1969. This man was truly a giant ot only in medicine but in his compassion and respect for people. Dr Meilman taught me the real meaning of the privilege of being a physician.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Edward Meilman. His diagnosis literally saved my mother, Antoinette Gottwirt's life in the 1970s, giving her an extra 20 healthy, wonderful years. You are in my prayers.

I have a great sense of loss with the passing of Dr. Meilman. Like so many other physicians he was my mentor and was the soul of the department of medicine at LIJ. He will be sorely missed. What a great man.

We are sure you know how much we will miss your father. We are thinking of you, just as your father and mother thought of us during tough times. Our fond memories will outlast the sadness.

I join you in the sense of loss. Ed and I were close friends in college, med school, and internship. We met at shool reunions regularly. Unfortunately Ed missed our 70th in 2006. I will miss him.

My condolences to the family of Dr. Meilman. I am one of legions of doctors trained by your father. He was a true role model, well grounded in ethics, as well as the science and art of medicine.
