Edward Insley Morrison Jr. was born April 28, 1931 in Selma, La. and was preceded in death by his father, Edward Insley Morrison Sr., his mother Bama Lee Barrett Morrison, his sister Timonee Morrison Thompson, son in law, Richard P. Smith, Jr. and grandson Joseph Barrett Morrison. Mr. Morrison entered the gates of heaven Saturday June 25, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife of 66 years Jane Granger Morrison, and children Deborah Morrison Coe and husband Frank J. Coe, Edward Insley Morrison III and wife Tamara Knapp Morrison, and Donna Morrison Smith.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren including Merideth Coe Johnston, James B. Coe, Jannan Coe Bland (Scott), Edward Blake Morrison (Liz), Insley Shea Morrison Smith, Ashley Smith Linnell (Daniel), Sarah Smith Clair (Mathew), Richard Lucas Smith, and Hannah Smith Vollm (Jacob).

He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Morrison was a long time educator in Grant Parish where he taught school at Colfax and Pollock for many years. He was also the Principal at Pollock Elementary School. He was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (ULL), Northwestern State University and received his teaching certification at Louisiana College.

Mr. Morrison was a faithful servant of his Savior, Jesus Christ and lived his salvation every day. At First Baptist Church he was a Deacon, taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir and was the head of the Building Committee leading the construction of the Pearl Harper O’Quinn Family Life Center.

Mr. Morrison was very active in many organizations where he served his church and community. He participated in building churches around the country for 20 years with Campers on Mission. In his younger years he was also Boy Scout leader and a Town Alderman in Pollock.

Mr. Morrison enjoyed fishing and hunting in his leisure time and never met a fish he didn’t like. For many years he kept a camp at Toledo Bend that he and his wife enjoyed immensely. They loved sharing the camp with the grandchildren who all learned to fish with their Papaw.

Mr. Morrison also enjoyed woodworking although he claimed he did it “Just for Jane”. The grandchildren benefitted from his wood working as he built them special items that they cherish to this day.

Insley Morrison was a dedicated and devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. His perfect day was doing nothing more than visiting with the “grands and greats” and watching them play. He was totally devoted to his wife Jane and spent every possible moment with her by his side enjoying his family.

Pallbearers for Mr. Edward Insley Morrison, Jr. will be grandsons: James Coe, Blake Morrison, Mathew Clair, Daniel Linnell, Rev. Jacob Vollm, Scott Bland, Chance DeBusk, and Cameron Morrison.

MRS. JANE, DEBBIE AND FAMILY. SO VERY SORRY ABOUT THE PASSING OF MR. MORRISON. HAVE VERY GOOD MEMORIES OF HIM. ALL OF YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS.

What man is a man who does not make the world better.
Mr.Morrison was such a man and in elementary school I was blessed to have him as a teacher. He taught me not only my school lessons, but life lessons as well.
He was in my view a scholar, a gentleman, a teacher, a friend and was one of the most positive role models that I was fortunate to have in my early years.
My heartfelt condolences to Mrs.Morrison, the family and friends.
May God bless you and comfort you...
