Coach Mike Murphy was a fierce and formidable rival who instilled in every one of his teams a strong desire to be victorious.
Only later in life did I get to know and appreciate him as a friend. Our times sharing stories during the Sports Sages conventions are very great memories for me. When the bell is rung in memory of Mike, I and many in the room will be flooded with appreciation for the opportunity to know this good man.

Mike was a neighbor of mine and I always was amazed to see him early in the AM walking his dogs. Stella was so cute and she loved him dearly so did his dog previous to her. We visited now and then and i will miss those times. The neighborhood will never be the same with out Mike in it. God bless you Mike you will be missed by many of us.

Mr Murphy was my biology teacher and one of my favorites. I was a cheerleader and whenever I saw him at our reunions he always remembered my name and that I was one of the cheerleaders. He always had a smile and was loved by so many of his students and athletes. What a wonderful life he had and he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family.

There was nothing I looked forward to more in my highs school years than heading to the gym for basketball practice with coach Mike Murphy. We have been blessed to have had him for so many years and I'm sure we will see him again some day in a better place. May God bless his family and the rest of us as we will miss him greatly.

No adult in my life, save my parents, had a greater positive impact on me as Edward Mike "Coach" Murphy. Coach personified the well-known saying, the influence of a good teacher can never be erased. Coach, thanks for a life well-lived Coach.
