Not sure what to say?

The Nanos were good friends of my parents back in the 60s in Elyria. They were God Parents to my sister Kathy Van Auken.Fond memories of visiting their home in RR. Loved the basement studio and pictures of Stouffers food and Phylis Diller photos taken by Ed. Remember playing with Michael, and Francis. Ed always had a fast Karmen Gia. The oldest daughter got to see the Beatles in concert at Memorial Stadium. How cool. Mark Van Auken Indpls, IN

My prayers and tears are with the whole Nano family. Ed was one of my favorite photographers. We had way too much fun shooting food for the Stouffer Restaurant account. Beautiful, beautiful food. Cooked. Raw. Wide views. Close-ups. Macros. Finding unique perspectives in ordinary foods for ads, menus and calendars. Ed so loved his craft. And it showed in every image. Thanks, Ed.

I'm sending my sympathies to the family members and I'm sorry I could not attend the mass. Mr Nano was a very important member of the family espicially to my children and grand children.

I would like to offer my prayers and sympathies to all. Your family was another great OLA family -- faithful and steadfast. Your dad was one of that special generation that is now passing on so quickly. Please know that I will remember all of you at Mass. God bless you.

I remember first meeting Ed in 1981 or 82 when he shared space with Don Snyder in the studio on Hamilton. He was reviewing portfolios for us budding photographers, and had something nice to say to everyone, along with some helpful criticism. My condolences to the family, Ed will be missed.

I first met Ed Nano back in 1976 or so when sent on "rounds" from David Lee. Of all the photographers I met over the years he was the one who always had a kind word and would "size you up" with a look that either made you feel good or otherwise...later when he shared studio space with Don he gifted me with a commercial grade kitchen spoon that I have used in my own kitchen for the past 20 years or so just about every day, he always knew the value of things and if he saw in you a kindred...

Ed was the legendary photographer of Cleveland.
A really tough guy that knew how to shoot and loved to use that 8x10 camera. Polaroid was something he didn't want to use and he was adamant about telling an art director to head down the street if he wanted the stuff.
I looked to him as a mentor and smile at the memories of a great man.
I'm going to miss you Ed.
