Not sure what to say?

Ed Norfleet was a "hero" of mine. I have countless wonderful memories of growing up in Durham, but those that involved the Durham High School Class of 1959, and specifically Ed Norfleet, are the most memorable. Ed may have been the only person in our class "zanier" that I. He was certainly more creative and "accomplished" in his shenanigans. We had a ball, and I'm saddened that life took me away from NC for 57 years after UNC-Chapel Hill and I wasn't around Ed (except at DHS '59 Reunions)...

Dr. Norfleet was such a wonderful, kind, and giving man. Not only was he the father of one of my dearest friends, Liz, but he was also a mentor and true inspiration to me as a young physician. My thoughts and condolences are with Liz and the entire Norfleet family. I hope that you find some comfort knowing how much he was loved and will be missed by all.

With warmest regards and love, Bev

I hope Dr. Norfleet is dancing and having himself a moon pie and an RC Cola. He was such a kind, gentle man who touched so many lives....quite a role model.

There are few individuals in this world who enrich, inspire, and touch the lives of all they meet. Ed Norfleet was such an individual.
Ed was my teacher, colleague, and most of all my friend. He represented to me the utmost in what all physicians should strive to be and all that individuals should hope to achieve.
Greer and I have both been blessed to have known Ed, Ginger and their family and to have shared together some brief moments in time.
Ed and I spoke not only...

Dear Ginger and Family,
Rob and I were deeply saddened to learn of Ed's passing. In the same moment, however, we smiled and our hearts felt grateful and full remembering Ed's warmth, compassion and faith that everything would be alright-invaluable to a young assistant professor, his wife and new baby! It has been many years, but not a day has gone by without our being blessed and incredibly grateful for the gift of having him (and you as well) in our lives and hearts forever. We send...

Masha and I are sorrowed to hear of Ed's passing. Ed was a much admired and respected co-worker. He was a great teacher and medical leader as well a simply fine human being and friend. He enriched our lives as he did so many others he touched day to day. We always looked forward to a chance to meet and update news of family, UNC, and life after UNC. Ed dances with the stars!
Our greatest sympathy to Ginger and Ed's family. We share your grief and will keep Ed in our minds and hearts.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ed's passing. What a fantastic person! Truly, he touched my life and the lives of pretty much everyone he met. Extraordinary...My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Love, Jane Thomas,M.D. (Nashville,TN)

Many others have already mentioned Ed Norfleet's qualities: gentle, humble, funny, caring, dedicated. He was a wonderful mentor to those under his tutelage, and as an Anesthesiology resident (1982-85), I too recall his admonition to "Go have an RC and a Moon Pie," when he came in to give me breaks in the heart room. I still recall the day that he finally made the Starling Curve stick in my brain by eagerly showing me how it applied to our patient that day. He leaves an unmatched legacy at...
