Not sure what to say?

I just learned from the Texas Bar Journal of Russell's passing, and I am deeply saddened. We spent many long hours together in preparing and trying cases. He was one of my role models and a gentleman in the truest sense of that word. He was also a devoted family man who spoke often when we were together of his wife Pat(and her love of horses, especially palominos) and his two daughters Nikki and Reagan. He will be missed.

A MIGHTY OAK HAS FALLEN! Russell was a lawyer's lawyer, a true gentleman, consummate mentor, role model, and faithful friend. He was an icon in the Dallas legal community and built a law firm for the ages. And he never stopped fighting the good fight! May our Heavenly Father ease your grief and leave only the cherished memories of his loving ways. And may the angels lead him into paradise. Your friends, Larry & Mary Ackels and The Ackels Family.

Wow, not sure how I missed learning of Russell's death. He and I were 2 of a handful of Vietnam vets who started SMU law at the same time and attended year around so we could get out early and start practicing. He was a true gentleman then and became, not unexpectedly, a true professional in our legal world. Had not seen him in years due to his early retirement and frequent travels, but the profession lost a gentle giant and he will be missed.

We wish you peace. Russell was a wonderful man of wit, integrity and intelligence.

I want to say a prayer of thanks for Russell Nunnally: the man who took me to my first Broadway show, and my second, and even though all the other law clerks hated me, it was worth it. Russell built a team of lawyers with a bond of humor and connection. As a prank, his team had my college-aged sister Erin Ryan Burdette pose as a law student interviewing with Russell. It worked well in that she didn't have to act in order to pepper him with inappropriate questions, including a query about his...

A prayer for an outstanding lawyer, patriot, husband, father and longtime friend. Russ and Pat were always special people to me. It was my good fortune to work closely with him on behalf of our clients. Always able to muster a smile and find the best way forward. See you later Russ- Roll Tide❤

In a fraternity of good guys, Russell was one of the best. His wit, friendship and service made everything better and memories special.
