Edward “Poofie” Oswald, Jr., 67, husband of Betty Woods Oswald, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Oswald, Jr., are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the graveside, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Friday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Online condolences may be made at www.CharlestonFunerals.com

He was born December 26, 1949, in Charleston, SC, son to the late Edward Hardin Oswald and Bonita Browning Oswald. Edward served in the United States Army in Vietnam. After returning home he operated the family business, the Pine Castle Motel in Charleston, SC. Edward had a huge heart and loved his family above all. He was known as a giver, great story teller and always having a smile on his face. He had a love for everything outdoors and was an avid deer hunter.

Edward is survived by his wife, Betty Woods Oswald; daughter, Amanda Taylor (Marcus) of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Sydney and Amelia; two nieces and five nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Brownie Oswald Hightower.
