Not sure what to say?

Might it be possible for one of the immediate family to contact me? I have a home video of a little visit that he and Shirley made to my home in Wisconsin MANY years ago. I would be glad to share that video if there was a way. You can connect with me at [email protected], thanks, John Meitner

So sorry to hear of the passing of my old Air Force pal! Ed and I remained friends, visited each other a couple of times, (he came to my house in Waterloo, Wisconsin a couple times, and I visited him in Iowa a couple of times. Ed was one of only 3 or 4 of my Air Force friends that I continued to have contact with and so I go to Legacy fearing to see Ed's name and sure enough he has gone to the big Air Force base in the sky. I recall while in the AF that Ed composed and painted a large...

I met Ed at the Hawkeye Downs Wall of Fame night. Ed was a member of the Wall of Fame having been inducted in 2013. I really enjoyed talking to Ed and listening to his racing stories. I later spent an afternoon at Ed's apartment interviewing him for a story that I then wrote and posted in my Facebook Iowa car history page. Ed showed me his scrapbook and had many great stories. Ed also donated some of his old racing photos to be used in a future Hawkeye Downs museum. I already miss Ed and I...

Ed and I met in 1973, shortly after I began graduate studies at the UI School of Art and Art History. We started a business called The Signshop, in Coralville, three years later. From 1976 to 1987 we were colleagues there, at 115 East 7th Street. In late 1987, I moved to California. Ed continued to operate the business for about 30 more years, moving twice during that time. He was always an honest and dependable business associate, and our friendship endured until his death.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
