Ed Panella Stuttgart west Germany 1968

I was saddened to hear of Ed's passing. I met Ed in 1967 in Stutgart West Germany. We were in the same MP company. I was immediately impressed by his bearing. I found him to be intelligent, sincere, smart, with a good sense of humor, and just an all-around decent man. He was instrumental in my career choice as a high school teacher as he encouraged me to go to college. I'm sorry we didn't stay in touch. May God,s peace and grace be upon his family.

The world is a sadder place with out him in it, but a richer place knowing he was once here. One of the truly greatest guys I have ever known. From Cookin' Country Band Chicago...Freddy Lee, Billy Wayne, Mike Garrison, and Calvin Hamilton.

The guys & gals at Carol's just found out yesterday that you passed away. We are all very sorry to hear this news. Ed, you were a great guy and I loved talking politics and music with you for the last 15 years. We were very sorry to have missed your service. Ed, RIP. You will be missed.

Extending heartfelt condolences in the loss of your loved one. May reflection of the account found at Mark 5:35-43 provide comfort and strength to the family in the days and weeks ahead.

A gentle man and a gentleman!! He was absolutley brilliant and accomplished in every way. No one could hold a light to his intelligence or show more compassion for human kind than Ed. All of his years working in the projects of Chicago, he made friends and people trusted him. He gave them money from his pocket, bought them food and helped wherever he could. He had a huge heart and will never be forgotten by all of us whose lives were touched by him. He was generous, loving, kind,...

Ed was a one of a kind friend. He had an IQ off the charts. He had expertise in many areas. His knowledge of jazz and country/ folk music was unparalleled. Not only did read thousands of books, he could also write beautiful prose and poetry.
I will miss my long time friend dearly. Raise a glass.......

From cousin Margaret - wish I was there
