I met Ed at George Washington University in the fall apparently soon after his arrival in D.C. While waiting for a class to start I observed a guy wearing a heavy wool overcoat. He asked me if it ever got any colder and said he had never seen it below 70 degrees in his entire life. I told him he hadn´t seen anything yet. We became friends and I was at his wedding. I remember Eddie so well from our two years on Saipan in 1972-74. I was the Micronesian correspondent for the Pacific Daily News and covered the status negotiations. My husband, Robert, and I are so saddened to hear of his passing.
