Read MoreMr. Porter was the mayor for most of my childhood and teenage years. I was able to work with him some keeping stats for the radio broadcasts from time to time. I also had the honor of following him as the play by play man for WSMQ radio. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Porter was a friend of my family from the time I was born. I will always think of him as the Mayor and as the Voice of the Purple Tigers. One of my brothers played for the Tigers with Mayor Porter's son, and later my other brother assisted him with the broadcasts. I will always remember him fondly and would like to extend my sympathy and condolences to the family.
