Edward M. "Dude" Powers

Edward M. "Dude" Powers of Des Plaines for 48 years Services for Edward M. "Dude" Powers, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Born May 29, 1922, in St. Louis, he died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at the St. Matthew Home in Park Ridge. He worked for 20 years as a printer for the Daily News newspaper in Chicago and for 20 years as a printer for the Chicago Sun-Times. He was a 17 year member of the Des Plaines Senior Center, where he loved playing cards, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was the husband of Helene Ann (nee Schmitz); father of William D. (Susan) Powers, Douglas E. Powers and the late Karen Margaret Powers; grandfather of Michael, Ryan, Caitlin and Blake Powers; and brother of Joseph Donald (Clarisse) Powers.
