Edward Joseph Powers

Edward Joseph Powers, age 81, of Englewood, died on October 31, 2008. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 5, 1927, and came to Englewood 35 years ago from Altamonte Springs, FL. Mr. Powers was a District Vice President for the Fuller Brush Company, and he also worked as a licensed insurance and real estate agent. He was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood. He was involved with Prison Ministries for over 15 years. Mr. Powers was an Army veteran serving in WWII. He enjoyed all participating in all sports. His family loved him with all their hearts. Surviving family members include his wife Alice; daughters Pam McLennon of South Carolina, Cathy Griffeth of Alabama, and Monica Kincaid of Florida; son Casey Powers of Florida; brother Michael of Arkansas; sisters Margaret Kennedy of California and Jeanette Tull of Arizona; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 - 5 PM on Monday, November 3rd at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 4th, 10 AM at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood.
