Not sure what to say?

We met Eddie In the Midland hotel many years ago, he used to call in the Rotunda bar every day and we used to watch his fantastic and enthusiastic dancing at the Northern Soul nights, over the years we got to know him and Julie better and we always had an afternoon or evening in the chatting with them. This week 20/5/25 I went into the Rotunda bar hoping I might see him and Julie but we were totally shocked when we got to know what had happened, we honestly had know idea, we send our...

A very sad today. We were privileged to know Eddie as a friend and as NUT secretary for Rochdale. Eddie worked tirelessly to represent NUT members in Rochdale, defending them when it was needed and supporting them when members needed help. He will always be remembered by his colleagues in Rochdale and by the NUT(NEU) nationally. Our thoughts and condolences to his family. Martin & Gail Newnham (Rochdale NEU/NUT) Retired members.

Eddie was one of my heroes. He was an outstanding NUT Branch Secretary when I was a school rep for many years. Unfailingly polite and good humoured even in very difficult moments, he was always well informed and fully prepared. He was, without exception, ready to take calls and give advice well into the night. An enormously compassionate and caring man he was a beacon to trades unionists everywhere and a wonderful example to follow in the way he dealt with people. A highly intelligent and...

Worked with Eddie in school in Rochdale and really appreciated his excellent work within the NUT. He introduced me to 'Bridget Jones Diary' some 30 years ago, said it made him laugh out loud on his train from Hebden Bridge and he passed it on when he'd finished. I'm sure it wasn't his go-to genre but I loved it that he chose to read a book like that. Thinking of his loved ones at this difficult time.

I worked with Eddie at the NUT. He was the most kind, caring and compassionate officer who cared about his members and their rights. So very sad to hear this news. May he rest in peace.

Worked with Eddie when he was Rochdale NUT officer.A very friendly, caring man who always acted with integrity. RIP Eddie
