Schrader Funeral Home - Eureka Obituary

Rankin, Edward J., passed away, Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Loving father of Melissa Kathryn (David W.)Rankin-Short. Dear son of Edward F. and the late Jean Rankin. Dear brother of Laura (Ron) Langford, Diana Ronning, Donna (William) Hulsey, Anna Rankin, Joseph (Deborah) Rankin and the late Linda Bennett. Our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.

Ed was a proud father, always available to his family and friends, an incredibly hard worker, and almost everyone’s go-to guy for something.

Ed owned and helped care for horses in his younger years and spent time going on trail rides.

He enjoyed riding his Harley, going to the movies and loved a good margarita.

Always pushing the limits, he lived a life of willingness and little fear. May we all strive to be a little more like him in that nature.

Ed’s family thanks you for your prayers, kind words and supportive thoughts. Ed will be forever missed. May he rest in the light and love of the Lord and his soul be free.

Services: Graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, Wednesday, 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marygrove at www.marygrovechildren.org. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home - Eureka, 108 N. Central Avenue, Wednesday 10 a.m. -12 p.m. Friends may sign the family’s on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Not sure what to say?

Donna, so very sorry to hear this sad news. Our heart and prayers are with you, Biff and your entire family. Karin and Pat Fagan

Ed was so much more than my Uncle. He looked out for me in so many ways after my mom died. He was always there when I needed him. I'm so heartbroken & will miss him so much.

It was my pleasure working with Ed. My deepest sympathy to his family. God bless.

He was such a good friend to so many people.

Ed was a great friend to Loyed,Peggy and Lex Longenecker and a great friend to us. We will always miss you.

I was so shocked to hear of Ed’s passing today. Ed Rankin was a dear friend of mine. I worked with Ed both at At&t and at IBM. Ed was so generous with his time as he helped me with many home projects. One memory I have of Ed was how highly he talked about his daughter - he was very proud of Melissa and her accomplishments.
God Bless you Ed - rest in Christ’s peace my friend. May the Souls of the Faithfully departed thru the Mercy of God Rest In Peace - Amen.

So sorry for this great loss. Eddie, Rest In Peace. We are sending hugs, good thoughts, and prayers to the family.

Ed was always a friendly voice and caring individual who would go out of his way to help whomever presented need. Hope and prayers to the Rankin family.

I'm sorry for your loss Ed was the go to man and computer guy always helping when I needed him rest in peace love to the family your all in my thoughts and prayers
