Reddin, Edward Robert--67, A lifelong resident of Somerville died on May 2, 2014.

Edward was the beloved husband of Josephine (Sanfilippo) and the loving father of Melissa Hickey and her husband Robert, Eric and his wife Rebekah and Michael and his wife Alicia. He was the cherished grandpa of Sean, Rosalie, Olivia and Gabriel. Edward was also the son of Kathleen (Brennan) and the late Cecil Reddin and the brother of William Reddin, John MacDonald, Stephen Reddin, Karen Michalski and the late Kenneth Reddin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) in Somerville on Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014, at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Genoa Church in Somerville at 9 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

Edward was a Vietnam Veteran Sgt in the US Army, 101st & 82nd Airborne Division. He was recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor and Distinguished Member of the Regiment. Prior to his retirement, Edward was a City of Somerville Police Officer. He was also a member VFW Dilboy Post #529.

When I think of Eddie I remember the quiet strong man he was. Man of few words but always scheming and surprising folks with his words. Eddie had a mischievous laugh that he loved about himself, 8 years and I still smile when I think of you, not forgotten my friend
