It is with great sadness that I have learned of Sgt (etc) Reuss' passing. I was so impressed to see such a dedicated boss back in the 123 in 1977. He was a FINE NYC Police Officer. I then ran into the family again in 2004 in headquarters on his sons retirement. I was fortunate to receive updates from the Sgt through the years. We are at a loss in his passing

It is with great sadness we receive the news Captain Reuss passing. He truly was a great man. My wife Eileen and I thought the world of him. In fact in my paper for the Southern Police Institute Leadership class, Captain Ed Reuss was the focus of my report. When we bought our home and Ed and Laurel were our real estate agents.

We remember the Captain addressing roll calls, educating the officers on the latest bulletins and tactical concerns. He cared deeply about the officers...

So sorry to hear this. Ed was so instrumental in helping our organization "Survivors of the Shield" police Widows support group. The NYPD has lost another one of its heros! God Bless you Ed!
