Not sure what to say?

Dear Sandstrom Family, My family lived next door over on Cleveland.I Had not seen your family for many years and then had the pleasure of seeing your folks at Calroga a few years back. What a wonderful childhood growing up on Cleveland Avenue!
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I lived on the same block as the Sandstrom's until they moved to Seattle when I was in third grade. Up until that time Katy and I were always together. Once we were going in the car with Mr Sandstrom somewhere, but Katy and I could not stop laughing and rolling around in the back of the car. He waited patiently with a bemused look on his face for what seemed like 15 minutes before we could stop laughing and get in our seats so he could start the car.

Sometimes Mr Sandstrom was...

I sent a message the other day but apparently it didn't go through. So I will try again.
Many memories were made by the
Sandstrom, Pluchos, Simmons, Westover and Jacobs families when
they lived in a row on Cleveland Avenue in Portland. When the Sandstroms moved to Edmonds, WA we
stopped to visit them many times
on our camping trips to Canada.
Ed and Ena always welcomed us with
great gin and tonics and steaks on the grill. Wonderful memories!!!

I knew Ed briefly in the 1980s when he and His wife moved to Longview to care for granddaughters Karin, Ingrid, and Erica. He took a computer class at St. Rose School where I taught computer lessons to the girls. Ed was an interesting and intelligent man; generous and patient with the girls and a friend to all who knew him. My condolences to his family.

To all in the Sandstrom family,
We were sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I am reminded of so many things when thinking of Ed and the entire family. Simultaneous vacations to the beach was one of my favorite memories with us traveling between Seaside and Mazanita to spend a day together. Ed was seemingly never upset by the resulting chaos.
Again, we are thinking of you and keeping all of you in our prayers. So very sorry we can't be there but spending time with George in Hawaii and...

Our thoughts are with you. Waves of childhood memories are going through my mind as I write this. I remember not only how intelligent Mr. Sandstrom was, but also how talented he was with his hands. Our prayers are with all of you.

To the Sandstrom family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. What an amazing life Ed lived! I enjoyed knowing him as Grandpa Ed through my friendship with Karin, Ingrid, and Erica. My favorite memory was having Ed over to watch the production of our play which the Thorsons and Sandstroms wrote and performed for the neighborhood.
God bless, Lisa and Dan Piantanida

Russ and Ed were sharing WW2 memories many years ago. Our families learned that both grandfathers were in Bastogne Christmas Day 1944. Ed in the sky with US Army Air Corps and Russ on the ground with Patton's 3rd Armored Division. Russ witnessed an awful battle in the skies that day, by evening the Luftwaffe was destroyed. Ed recalled dropping supplies to the American troops on the ground. Thank you Ed Sandstrom for your service to our country. We send our sympathy to Ina and the family.

Rest in Peace Uncle Ed.
