Ed was a GREAT man and outstanding physician and friend. I worked with him at Evanston for many years and enjoyed his professional friendship. Please know our prayers are with you and the family. Remember him as the vivacious, gentle giant that he was and know how much all of you are loved

I worked with Dr. Scanlon for 28 years in the Operating Room at Evanston Hospital. A lot of what I learned and know about surgery came from working with Dr. Scanlon. He was a hard task-master but very fair. His dedication to teaching inspired me to teach also. Teaching Operating Room Nursing is still what I am involved in although I Have retired from working full time. Strength, calm, humor, patience, philosopher. These are some of the words which come immediatly to mind when we think of Dr.Scanlon. Our family has been very appreciative of his time, skills, and focus and are truly grateful for his major role in our family's well being. We miss him and send loving thoughts to his family.

Ed was an icon in his field and only knew to strive for excellence. My condolences to Virginia and the family.
