MacAlpine Funeral Home, Inc. - Mac Chapel - Bad Axe Obituary

Edward A. Schramski, 75, of Port Hope, passed away on January 4, 2022 at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

He was born on August 15, 1946 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late John and Helen (Rybak) Schramski.

Ed was one of eight children and was raised on the family farm in Kinde, Michigan.  He graduated from Kinde High School in 1963 then continued his education at Michigan State University earning a Master’s Degree.  Ed then joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War.

He worked at the Farm Home Administration in Port Huron, then as a county extension agent for Lapeer County before moving to Port Hope to become a dairy farmer.

Ed was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township and the American Legion Post 449 in Port Austin.  He enjoyed farming, watching tractor pulls, going to the stock yards, watching sports especially football, and going fishing.  In his later years, Ed enjoyed going to the parades to march with the veterans and helped out with military honors at funerals.  No matter how busy he was, Ed always found time to attend family gatherings.

Ed is survived by his siblings: Fred (Doreen) Schramski of Kingsley, Jim (Val) Schramski of Bad Axe, Ann (Tom) Smith of Auburn, Paul (Lorrie) Schramski of Kinde and John (Jean) Schramski of Kinde; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Schramski and Janice Schramski.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Angie (Steve) Hendershot, Annette Aquino , Jason Schramski, Becky (Joe) Gilbert, Christopher (RhiAnnon) Schramski, Adrienne (Tony) Ruthowski, Aaron (Alesha) Schramski, Breann Schramski, Krista (Scott) Haines, Bryan (DeAnna) Smith, Nate (Erin Basset) Schramski, Mike (Emily) Schramski, Nick Schramski, John (Addie Spolyar)Schramski, Jake (Melissa Leszczyk) Schramski, and Tyler (Tessa Roggenbuck) Schramski; many great nieces and nephews; his aunt, Genevieve Peruski and his uncle, Joseph Schramski.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Schramski and David Schramski.

Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 9 – 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be offered to be used at the family's discretion (c/o James Schramski).

Not sure what to say?

A gentleman and fellow HS graduate.

I worked with Ed in Lapeer County, as the 4-H Youth Agent. He was a very hard working person, always working to improve various situations and help the farmers in the county. He accompanied me and 30+ youth to "Citizenship Short Course" in Washington DC. We both grew up in large Catholic Families, on a farm and in a small community. I want to extend my sympathy to the family and I will keep Ed in my prayers.

I am sorry to learn that Ed has left us. He was always a welcome presence in various family or neighborhood gatherings. I am saddened to think that when I saw him in October, that was to be the last time. I cannot imagine that he had a single enemy. May he Rest In Peace. And may you, his family, find consolation in the God Ed knew, and in the faith you continue share with one another.

(We will send a card for the family to Jim.)
