Not sure what to say?

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Shapiro while an undergrad at Lehigh. His work developing the framework for objectively and quantitively observing students in a school based setting is considered the defacto gold standard. Most importantly, Dr. Shapiro was a fantastic teacher, mentor and person. There is one moment that typifies his character. It was graduation day and I was with my parents walking down the hill. Dr. Shapiro was driving by, saw us, and stopped his car and rushed...

I'm heartbroken. I served as one of the dozens of Ed's assistants while my son played for him. We both owe Ed a great deal. I looked forward to every day we got to spend with him.

To the Shapiro Family,

My condolences to all of you on your loss. Dr. Shapiro was an aquaintence during my years at Lehigh, and, always had the time to say, "Hello, How's it going?" He was a definite asset to his field. He will remain forever within your heart and mind. Take care and God Bless!

Dear Sally and family,
I served as SPYA President and Softball commissioner and got to know Ed while he was the Baseball commissioner and board member. He had quite a passion for baseball and youth sports along with the right set of moral values for these positions. I really enjoyed working with him as he was very thoughtful, intelligent and a great communicator. I feel that I am a better person having known Ed, and all members of SPYA benefitted tremendously from Ed's leadership and...

Shapiro Family - very fond memories of Ed at Lehigh. Always had a smile and kind word. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We light this candle in honor of Coach Shapiro who shared his passion of the game of baseball with our son.

Dear Shapiro Family,
I want you to know that I am very sorry and sad to hear about Ed's death. I share in your grief, and you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Ed and I became acquainted in the early part of 1985 during a couple of intake interviews at Lehigh when I was a student candidate for the graduate program in School Psychology. The conversations must have left a favorable impression because I was accepted into the program. Our relationship continued...
