Edward P. "Nim" Shibley passed away Friday surrounded by his large, loving family. He was born and raised in Agawam and lived in West Springfield since 1957. Nim was stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines during World War II with the United States Army Air Corps. He worked in the automobile business and developed, owned and managed a number of residential real estate properties in the Springfield area. Nim was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony Maronite Church. Ed was a man of many interests; in his early years he was an outstanding player for the Agawam Brownies semi-pro football team, he piloted his own plane, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and he wrote poetry throughout his life. Nim's greatest source of pleasure and pride was his family. Predeceased by his devoted wife C. Julia (Kalill) Shibley in 2001; he leaves his six children and spouses: Edward and Donna Shibley, Rosemary and Mark Pagios, Denise and Matthew Donnellan, William and MaryLynn Shibley, Joseph and Donna Shibley and Kim and Kayce Shibley. He also leaves two brothers Peter and wife Joan Shibley as well as John Shibley, a sister-in-law Edna Shibley, and brother-in-law Paul Kalill and wife Allison; twenty-one treasured grandchildren: Edward and wife Michele, Thomas, Anne and Alex Shibley, Stephen, Allyson, Leah, Mark and Marion Rose Pagios, Matt Donnellan Jr. and wife Samantha, Julie Donnellan, Adam and Brett Shibley, KateLynn and husband T.J. Sweeney, Paul and Mia Shibley, Hannah-Love, Jessica, Kim Jr. and wife Elizabeth, Abigail and Emma Shibley and three cherished great-grandchildren: Grayson, Harper and Amelia. He also leaves his dear companion, Mariko McCullah. Nim's many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family will miss him. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Anthony Maronite Church for the funeral on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. Visiting hours will be at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
