I yet remember my interview with this gentleman, in hoping to earn a Graduate Assistantship at Ball State that summer of 1978, as he spoke with a combination of gentle, friendly yet commanding speech. It must have gone well, for I was able to enjoy a special academic year there under his overall leadership. One of the most accessible yet subtly powerful folks I have ever met, and I only regret that I didn't get to work with him more closely in either classroom or theatrical production. ...
