Not sure what to say?

Both the Sgt Major and Liz were remembered in my prayers at Mass today, as they are every Sunday. It was my great honor to have served with Ed Van Valkenburgh first at Marine Barracks, Yorktown Virginia in 1965 and most especially with F/2/5 in Vietnam. He had much to do with our Company's successes during the 1968 Tet Offensive in Hue City.

I remember him as S/Sgt. Van Valkenburgh my Senior Drill Instructor, Platoon 370 MCRDSD, 1963. Great Marine and mentor. Semper Fi! R.I.P.

Doesn't seem possible that 6 years have passed since our final earthly farewell for SgtMaj Van Valkenburgh.
He (and Liz and his family) have been in my weekly Sunday Mass prayers ever since. He was a great Marine and person! It was my privilege and honor to have served with him! Mike Downs

Ant Liz, Jennifer & Lisa Little Eddie here I am so sorry to see uncle Ed has passed a way. I miss you all and my thought are with you always. Love you all

So very sorry to learn of the Sgt Major's passing. I never could call him Ed. He meant a great deal to me and will always be remembered with respect.

I'm so sorry to learn of the SGT Major's Van Valkenburgh's Passing. He was a great Marine (and even better person) with whom I was privileged to serve while with Company F 2nd Bn. 5th Marines especially during the Battle of Hue City in 1968.
My thoughts and prayers are with Liz, his girls, grand children and great grand children.
