CLINTON
Edward Thomas Vitone, a life long resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully in his home on July 20th, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born in Clinton on October 29, 1923 to the late Pasquale and Emma Vitone, graduated from Clinton High School in 1940 and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio repairman. He was a master carpenter recognized for his attention to detail and fine workmanship. Ed was active in the Holy Rosary Church and The Savoia Lodge of the Sons of Italy. He was a passionate gardener, an avid reader and a "champion" rummy player.
Ed will always be remembered as a loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle, and to all who knew him, a man of integrity, strong work ethic, generosity, kindness and a million dollar smile.
Ed is survived by Eva C. (Garofoli) Vitone, his wonderful wife of 65 years; a son Edward Vitone and his wife, Linda, of Ashburnham, MA; three daughters: Eileen Vitone of Somerville, Mary Legere of Clinton, and Nancy Sarafian and her husband, John, of Naples, FL; and his brother, Pat, of Fitchburg; three grandsons, of whom he was extremely proud: Christopher Vitone, Nicholas Vitone and Michael Legere, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers John, Orlando and Nick.
Ed's funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m
