Edward R. Whetsel, 83, Anderson, passed away March 27, 2005 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after an extended illness.

He was born July 29, 1921 in Lapel, the son of George E. and Viola M. (Hipshire) Whetsel. He lived most of his life in Anderson and after he retired, he moved to Tiki Village in Tavares, FL. He retired from Nicholson File and worked at Hoyt Wright.

He was a member of Anderson Moose Lodge and was a US Air Force Veteran serving in WWII.

He is survived by four daughters, Joyce (husband, Carl) Reck of Daleville, Glenda (husband, Lanny) Hall of Anderson, Fay Norris of Busy, KY and Eunice Baker of Anderson; son, Tim (wife, Tammy) Whetsel of Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Carl Whetsel of Anderson; sister, Eileen Justice of Anderson; two half sisters, Nancy and Ginny; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Whetsel; son, Edward Whetsel, Jr.; two grandsons, Gordon Aaron and Michael Baker; two brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Gettinger officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW post 266.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
