Not sure what to say?

My deepest sorrow to the family, Ed and Rita were a joy to know and I had the honor of having lunch with Ed and Rita quite frequently while working at Desert Fashion Plaza. I remember Ed asking me if I ever got tired of his baked potatoes? A little joke we passed back and forth if he was out of them for the day. Ed's memory and kindness will live on through Rita and the entire family.

God Bless

Dan

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I met Ed and Rita, when they first opened their darling quaint cafe, in the Palm Springs Desert Plaza Mall. Rita was also our customer and we Saks employees would go over there for coffee and lunch. Ed & Rita were always very kind and hospitable. Ed and Rita believed in Jesus resurrection hope, so I am very glad to know that their large family is being comforted, knowing that Ed is no longer in pain. Ed is fast asleep in death, conscious of nothing at all, and in the memory of our...

I was so sorry to hear about your loss of Ed. I taught art at Lewis Jr. High school for 23 years. My room was across from Ed's. He was a very nice man and always a gentleman. I would like to express my deepest sympathy.

Carattini Family,

Senor Carattini was my Spanish teacher in 8th and 9th grades at Lewis in the late 1970s and he was one of my all-time favorites. One of my fondest memories of junior high spanish is standing in front of the class with a "Carlitos Moreno" transparency and talking (without notes) for as long as possible - all in Spanish. Many of us went to Mexico (Oaxaca, Cuernavaca & Mexico City) with him when we were in 9th grade. It was quite an experience visiting a school,...

To the Carattini Family,
I loved your father almost like my own. I was best friends with his daughter many years ago. I remember having to go over so he would check my homework and sign a paper that I would have to take back to my teacher for proof that I finished all my assignments. Now I am a mother and wished he were here to do so for my children.
I will see you soon Brother Carattini in Paradise!

To Rita and family,
I was so saddened when I heard of Ed's passing. He was such a dear, dear man. I first met him when he substituted at Vista del Monte and he was my very favorite sub. After I retired 6 years ago, I became a testing substitute along with Ed and several others. During our subbing time, he shared many things about his family. He told us how he and his beloved Rita met and began their life together. He talked so often about all his children and grandchildren - he was SO...

We knew and loved the Carattini family. Since the early seventies. when we moved to the town of Santee, we have shared the same beliefs and hopes for the future. It is sorrowful to hear of Ed's passing, but we know the loving care of our heavenly father, Jehovah, will sustain those of us who knew him well. Our sympathy and prayers go out in support of the rest of the Carattini family. John 5:28,29

The classroom experience of El Senor Carattini provided those memories that last a lifetime. A real legend in the history of Lewis Jr. High and San Diego education.
