I worked with Ed when he was checking out on the 747 in May 1970. I also gave him several annual second officer check rides on the 747 over the years. Ed always did an outstanding job on his check rides, and the pilots who flew with him on the line appreciated his easy manner and professional approach to his job. Ed Knutson was a good guy, dedicated to Northwest Airlines, and as good an employee as Northwest Airlines had. I am glad that I got to work with Ed and know him.

Peggy, Ron, Kathy, Diane and families,
We all are saddened to hear of Uncle Ed's passing. Ken is in Sweden this week with his daughter, Nellie; I am unable to travel with my lung illness, and Cheri is taking care of me, so we will not be able to attend the visitation or funeral. However, our thoughts and prayers will be with you all. We have been where you are at this time and our hearts go out to you...you had wonderful parents and it's hard to lose them.
Our love...

Peggy, Ron, Kathy, and Diane-
Thank you for the call, Peggy, and the sad news about your dad. I'm glad you got my cell phone number as we are still in AZ and I don't check messages too often in MN. I was just a kid when I first heard about your parents and their move to Seattle. Mary and Bill were so happy they were there all those years and so sad when you left. They loved you all and so did I as I got to know you and hear all the stories about you all from your parents. It was...
