Pastor Edwin L. Reese 60, of Morrisville PA, unexpectedly passed away on August 17th, 2019. Born in Clearfield, PA, he grew up in Philipsburg, PA, and attended Penn State University. He received his Bachelors in Liberal Arts, then joined the U.S. Navy and finished as a Lt. He was the Former Pastor of Hazelwood Baptist Church, former youth Pastor of State College Evangelical Free Church for  6 years, and Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont, MN for 6 years. Ed was a huge history buff; he often used unusual historical facts in his sermon, mostly the Revolutionary war. He enjoyed reading books, even when he would drive, he constantly listened to audio books. His favorite sport was basketball, whether that meant playing or watching it on TV. He also loved to watch Animal Planet, and animals in general. But most of all, Ed was a family man who loved spending time with those closest to him.

Not sure what to say?

For my freshman and sophomore years at Penn State, Ed was my morning running buddy. I was on the track team and he was running for an ROTC activity. Some days those morning runs were really hard, but knowing that I had a good friend with me really helped. Ed was really good man, and I am saddened by his passing. My condolences to his family.

What a wonderful man. I roomed with Ed my first year at PSU in 906 Sproul Hall. I was in my first year of NROTC while Ed was a junior in the program. He taught me a lot about school and the NROTC program. I couldn't think of a better way to start my college career. We lost touch following school. I saw the news of his passing in the recent PSU alumni magazine. God Bless him and his family. We will share our prayers for them.

Ed was my room mate my first year at Penn State in 1978. We lived on the 9th floor of Sproul Hall. He was one year ahead of me. He was kind, thoughtful, and remarkably tolerant of my youthful nonsense - I couldn't have picked a better room mate. Although I had not spoken to Ed since he graduated, I often googled his name to see how and what he was doing and noted that he was not too far from me when he lived in Baltimore not too long ago and promised myself that I would make the time to call...

Pastor Ed was a very kind and compassionate man, always smiling and showing concern and love for others. He was my Pastor at Hazelwood Baptist Church for many years. I especially remember his sympathy, caring, and pastoral visits at the hospital, following my father's stroke and subsequent passing. He will be missed; however, Pastor Ed is rejoicing in heaven; and his crown is heavy with many jewels for his acts of Christian love and ministry. I have been praying for comfort for Jodi and...

I have been thinking for days what to write. Im so sorry for your loss. Pastor Ed was always so caring, kind and encouraging. Pastor Ed shined Christ and Christ love in every conversation, interaction, and every time he spoke in sermon.
To his family, Im so sorry for your loss. It was such a wonderful sight to see how close you all were. I am truly sorry for your loss, I pray everyday for you.
Pastor Ed, you will be truly missed so much everyday.

Your welcoming manner was one of the reasons we chose to become part of the First Baptist Church in Morrisville. We lost our Pastor, but Heaven gained a Saint.

My deepest sympathies to your family. Pastor Ed was the youth pastor when I was in junior high/high school during his tenure at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont, MN. I speak for many youth when I say this: he was a beacon of light and hope, guiding us all with love, compassion, and laughter. He always made us laugh. He touched so many lives with his openness, generosity, and kindness. He had a way of disarming you because of his non-judgement attitude and capacious spirit. For me: I...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Ed was a leader in youth groups in Philipsburg Pa.His parents, me and my late husband were good friends and enjoyed many family outings. The book he wrote and published is helpful and I keep it on my book shelf.May Gods Light shine on Eds family and comfort them with all the good memories..
