JANESVILLE--- Edwin E. Schieve, age 82, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at home. He was born in Madison, MN on May 26, 1926, the son of Gustav and Lottie (Fredricks) Schieve. He served in the US Marine Corp during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Ed married Mildred Voss in Delmar, IA on Jan. 6, 1951, and had been employed by General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 1986. Following retirement Ed and Millie enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, AZ with many friends. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and enjoyed golfing , bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; 5 children: Jackie (David) Vance of Janesville, Gary (Kristine) Schieve of Janesville, Alan (Susan) Schieve of Slinger, WI, Larry (Deb) Schieve of Janesville and Gina Schieve of Madison; 9 grandchildren: Jessica, Maggie, Matthew, Caroline, Logan, Kegan, Tanner, Brianna and Brett; 2 great grandchildren, Rylee and Madelynn; 4 brothers: Arthur Schieve of Arizona, Donald (Mary) Schieve of Janesville, Robert Schieve of Arizona and Erwin (Sally) Schieve of Florida; and 2 sisters, Ethel Berner of Florida and Emma Bolzis of Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Gus Schieve, Alfred Schieve, Walter Schieve and Elmer Schieve; and 1 sister, Lee Pacer. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or the American Cancer Society. Ed was a great husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
