I worked for Ed for four years (1998-2002) as the District Law Enforcement Ranger. He was the kind of supervisor you hoped to always have: Always professional while attending to the requirements and demands of managing public lands amid the intricacies of complex land and political issues. Considerate of employees. He allowed folks the space to do their jobs with minimal oversight; a manager who received in return the respect and quality work of professionals in those myriad disciplines....

Sending our deepest condolences to you all. A memory. So many to share. Ed and I traveled from Carlsbad to one of the many management meetings and we traveled thru Tularosa. Ed shared some very neat stories of growing up. He was true New Mexico, it meant so much to him to do good works for wildlife, watershed, and especially communities. Well Done Sir. Jim Mc.

I worked at the Grants Field Station and remember every time Ed came out into the field. He was always professional but knew how to have fun. There was a time while exploring the Cebolla Canyon Wilderness that he found an artifact. He handed it to me in such a nonchalant manner as if he found them every day. He will be missed.

My condolences to Ed's family. I remember Ed as a man who was very effective at getting things done as a manager with BLM. In this regard, he had a great heart for doing right on the land and for people. He hired me as a BLM staff hydrologist in 2001 and I owe him a lot of respect and thanks for my career at BLM in Albuquerque. Rest in peace, Ed.
