Went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home; age 85 years. Edwin was born in Richville, MI to the late Otto and Julia Strobel on July 27, 1927. He married Shirley Loesel, who predeceased him on May 9, 2005. He later married Ethel Ringler on June 9, 2007; she survives him. Edwin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for General Motors for 41 years until his retirement. Edwin was a member of Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church in Montrose and a previous member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.

Surviving besides his wife Ethel are a sister, Arlee (Loyal) Colosky of Carrollton, a brother, Jack (Helen) Strobel of Tawas City, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Juanetta Strobel, 2 step-daughters; Dawn (Rob) Shanafelt, and Mary (Jeff) Bruff, sister-in-law, Ila (Bill) Jarmen of Cheyboygan, special friends; Ted (Dorita), Ron (Pam) and Dan (Judy) and many nieces and nephews.

A son, Ralph Strobel, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, predeceased Edwin.

A committal service will take place on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Allen Lindke will officiate. My heart goes out to you! I already miss him dearly, my day is just not the same. I wish we could have met under different circumstances I know his dialisys was hard on him but I promise you he was a pleasure to care for. He was one of my dearest friends and he meant alot to me!
