Not sure what to say?

As a Professor now myself, I regularly reflect on Ed's influence on my career and I often continue to cite his works. I wish there were more like him in our field.

I was so sorry to learn of Ed's passing recently. I worked closely with him for two years on his unilateral family therapy project in the late '80's. He taught me so much about intervention research in social work! And he was always very kind. He responded to my Christmas letter each year with a personal note about what was in the letter. I will miss knowing him.

I was so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at the U of M School of Social Work.

I met Dr. Thomas as an MSW student, and began working on his research immediately. He recruited me into the PhD program in social work and psych, and I did nearly all of my work under his supervision. My condolences to Ed's family. He was a very important influence in the field of social work, and it was because of him that I decided to attend the UM SSW Ph.D. program. He was an exciting and challenging teacher, and he left an indelible and positive impression on my professional life. I am deeply grateful for his life and work, and the contact I was able to have with him. He has enriched the lives of countless individual such as myself.
