STUDLEY, Virginia

VAUGHAN, Edwin Dale, 67, of Midlothian, passed away at his home on March 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elsie; his four children, Jason (Yvonne), James, Jaron (Megan) and Reketa (Chris). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Destiney, Christian, Jakob, Jayden, Jonah, Keegan; and his sisters, Patsy (Wes), Violet (Larry), Jean (George) and Linda (Herbert). He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Willie Vaughan. Ed served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of Clover Hill Baptist Church for 37 years. Ed was a past president of the International Management Council. He recently retired from Cabinet Crafters of Virginia. The family is at peace knowing that Ed is now free of pain and at home with Jesus. Visitation will be at Clover Hill Baptist Church from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. at Clover Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Women's Missionary Fellowship at Clover Hill Baptist Church WMF, 3100 Courthouse Road, Richmond, Va. 23236.

Being a woodworker, Ed and I talked shop occasionally. Back around 2005 or so I would go by his workplace to scrounge, they would put out scraps of wood for woodworkers like me on the loading dock. One day Ed came by our house, we were talking about wood and stuff. and he told me they had a bunch of hickory I could have. i had the privilege of knowing Ed through MIller Manufacturing's softball team. he was an excellent player and had a great desire to win. i think it was his marine corps training; however, he was also a gentle, loving person who will be fondly remembered.
