To the Barilleaux and Sarti Families - I first met Effie when we began our high school days at Warren Easton. We were in the F.B.L.A. club and C.O.E. together. Good times we had. It was a pleasure knowing such a cute and friendly girl. I am so sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

Our heartfelt condolences to Effie's family. She was one of those people who only come along once in a while. She had a great personality and was always fun to talk to at Howard Avenue and when I'd call the Harahan PD for news. Can't believe she's gone. With deepest sympathy, Bob and Elvira Ussery.

I had the privilege of working with Effie for many years. In the deadline oriented world we shared at The Times-Picayune, I think she was one of the most organized people I ever met. Effie always went the extra mile. I appreciated her spirit and I admired her constant devotion to family and friends. Such a sad time. My condolences family and friends.

Mrs. Barilleaux, Susan and Family

Thank you for keeping me posted on Effie's illness. Knowing her since kindergarten through high school, being her maid of honor at her wedding, and loving the entire Barilleaux family, her death breaks my heart. Even though I hadn't seen Effie in many years, I still miss her. I will treasure all the memories I have with Effie and your family.

Effie, It was my pleasure to spend time with you and your family at the hospital, home and Hospice. You never complained about your pain out loud. You were a great patient to the many people who cared for you. I loved spending time with you at the many places that we went or at your sister's home. You had such a great sense of humor. You were like a sister to me and made me feel like family. I miss you and wish you a Heavenly Birthday and Most of all a Heavenly, Peaceful Rest in Your Heavenly Home with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I Love You Effie and Will Miss You.

Effie,
I will miss your sarcastic wit and your funny stories, especially those crazy, outrageous Harahan P.D. arrest stories. I am thankful I got to spend some quality time with you in your last days. In spite of everything, you were courageous and accepting and it was truly remarkable to witness. I will miss you. Keep them laughing up there.
With all my love, Brenda
